During the general festival of Manga Comic Con Vietnam 2023 taking place at the end of July, actor Noboru Kaneko, playing “Gao Red” from Japan will have a series of interactive activities with nearly 40,000 Vietnamese fans in HCMC.
Manga Comic Con Vietnam 2023 (Production Exhibition for Youth about Manga and Comic) will take place in 2 days, July 29 and 30, 2023, at Sky Expo Vietnam International Convention Center (Quang Trung Software Park, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City), with the participation of Noboru Kaneko – Japanese actor who plays the role of “Gao Red” in the Super Sentai Gaoranger series.
“Although this is only the second season in Vietnam, however, in the world, Manga Comic Con events have existed since the 1970s. Until now, markets such as the US, Korea or Japan, Manga Comic Con festivals attract hundreds of thousands of spectators, not inferior to any other music festivals“, said Pham Minh Toan, Head of Organizing Committee of Manga Comic Con 2023 , Chairman of Vietfest’s Board of Directors, at a press conference on the morning of May 5.
The Organizers wish Manga Comic Con Vietnam 2023 event to become a true festival. From there, creating a larger and more professional playground for content creators, comics, cartoon lovers, etc.
What will “Gao Red” do with 40,000 fans?
Mr. Nghi To – Deputy Organizing Committee in charge of content, who has a lot of experience in superhero events from FM STUDIO said, Manga Comic Con 2022 has made great strides with 13,000 pre-registrations. In the first season, the event’s attraction sometimes exceeded the organizer’s own expectations.
With this year’s Manga Comic Con 2023, the general festival will have many activities such as exhibitions, fairs, cosplay, talkshow, contest, music show and food. In particular, in the fair – exhibition segment, the organizers are confident to be the place to display many of the largest models in Vietnam up to the present time. As for cosplay, Manga Comic Con is also the only event to successfully organize 3 seasons of cosplay specializing in superheroes with the name “Cosplay Super Hero The Champion Vietnam”.
Meanwhile, at talk shows, the appearance of director Charlie Nguyen with his enthusiastic comic project, inspired creativity for the community. A music show with the participation of domestic and foreign artists at the end of the day will help everyone fully enjoy a day of fun and discovery at the festival.
One of the special features of this year’s Manga Comic Con is the appearance of actor Noboru Kaneko, who plays the legendary “Gao Red” in the Super Sentai Gaoranger series familiar to many generations of Vietnamese audiences.
Responding to PV’s question about what specific activities actor Noboru Kaneko will have at the festival, the organizers shared, “Gao Red” will participate in fan meeting activities, sign autographs and take photos with Vietnamese fans. He will also have a talk about the roles of a lifetime in his career.
“In order to invite a famous Japanese actor to Vietnam, the organizers also spent a lot of time negotiating travel and accommodation requirements. Just as we’ve done music festivals with international artists in the past, we’ve had similar problems with cinema. We hope to bring famous actors from around the world, familiar with many generations of Vietnam to attend,” added Mr. Pham Minh Toan, Head of the Organizing Committee.
No long queues, “broken battle” like last year
That is the confirmation of the organizers to the press and guests at the press conference announcing the event, although this year the festival is expected to welcome nearly 40,000 participants, nearly 3 times higher than last year.
This year, the festival is held at Sky Expo Vietnam International Convention Exhibition Center (District 12, Ho Chi Minh City). Explaining why the venue is quite far from the city center, the organizers’ representative said that the event venues to ensure the orderly organization of such a large scale are relatively few, except for SECC (District 7) that is full at the same time. Sky Expo Vietnam International Convention Exhibition Center can meet organizers’ standards in terms of traffic, parking space as well as the ability to expand when it gets crowded.
“The location we chose has hosted many programs and been very successful. FPT College regularly organizes music festivals with up to 25,000 people. The hall has a capacity of more than 20,000 people, the traffic within 2 days is up to 50,000 people. This will no longer be a barrier for young people to participate,” added Mr. Truong Gia Bao – Chairman of the DTS Group Digital Transformation Alliance.
The organizers confirmed that the festival also takes into account compliance measures against the Covid-19 epidemic. With an area of up to 17,000 m2, the event is held in 2 days and the special contents will be divided into different times, with a sufficient stretch. The organizers limit the number of people presented at the same time by means of streaming, online registration, digital conversion to ensure the festival runs smoothly, without a “broken battle” happening.
